- Bread9 - 3 - '38In olden times there was white bread and brown bread. The brown bread was made from wheat and the white bread was made from flour, milk was added in kneading. Bread was baked every day, there was a cross put on top of the cake to let out the acid.
There was special kind of bread made for a wedding. It was oaten meal bread, it used to be broken over the bride's head for luck. A baker was the name of the vessel in which bread was made, a griddle was also used and is still used in our house.James Burke,
