- We have a churn at home and it is about three feet high. The parts of a churn are the lid the dash and the joggler. It takes an hour to churn and sometimes some of the neighbours come in and help with it. When you are a little while churning there is water poured into the milk and then after a while there comes butter on the lid. Then there is more water poured into it to wash all the butter down into the churn. The things that are used for making off the butter as the strainer and the mixer. The strainer is used for lifting out the butter out of the churn. Then there is salt put into it and it is mixed up with the mixer.
