  1. Hedge schools were very common about a hundred years ago.
    Terence Travers who lived in the parish of Inishmagrath, Co. Leitrim was one who taught in a hedge school and some times in his own house.
    To secure a fire during the Winter each child had to bring a few sods of turf each morning.
