Ar an leathanach seo
- Long ago in Ireland people lived on three meals a-day - breakfast dinner and supper. Sometimes in the mornings people went out to dig potatoes and then brought them in and boiled them for breakfast. Others used to have yellow meal porridge or oatmeal. A story is told of two neighbouring men who got up early one morning and finding they had nothing to eat went out and reaped the oats and ground it for breakfast.
The bread used in olden times was griddle bread made with Indian meal and wet with boiling water. In houses where there were large families a big amount of this bread was made. It was eaten with sour milk. Some people made potatoe-bread-flour, mashed potatoes and salt.
Scarcely any meat was eaten save at Christmas when people would get a quarter of veal.
At Easter dozens of egg were eaten(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
