- Hallow E'en is a time of fun and merriment for everyone, especially for the children. It is celebrated on the last day of October.
A barm brack, with a ring in it, is bought, and when tea-time comes, it is cut, and a slice is given to each member of the household. The person who gets the ring will be married within the coming year.
After tea, the enjoyment begins. Three saucers a placed on the table, with a ring in the first, clay in the second, and water in the third. Then someone is blindfolded, and she walks over to the saucers. If she puts her hand on the ring she will be married within the year.
