- Footwear long ago was different than now. It was made of skins of cattle and horse. That footwear was not very good.
The skins would be pressed out with lime and let harden then they would be sewed with cords. That was the sort of boots they had.
They used to wear clogs as well as the skin boots. Iron is put in the souls of them and and around the side of them like an asses shoe.
