The potatoes are dug with spades both in the drills and ridges. I help to pick them. We pick the sound, big ones first, and put them in a pit in the field.
This pit is made about a foot deep and two feet wide, and as long as may be needed. We then pick up the small ones and black ones and put them in a pit for themselves.
We cover the pits with scraws, over which we put a layer of clay. The potatoes are then safe for the winter. We grow the following kinds of potatoes.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
