   In Saunderscourt graveyard there is a tombstone which bears the following inscription

   Underneath are deposited the remains
   of
   The Reverend Redmond Roche
   Parish Priest of ? and Ballymurren
   in whom
   Exemplary and engaging manners
   meekness and moderation
   Inaffected piety and benevolence
   Were eminently conspicuous
   Having faithfully the Sacred Duties of Parish Priest
   During thirty eight years he dies on 1st August
   1819 in the 44th year of his age
   Beloved Revered and Lamented.
