Fell, as we thought, from out the azure deep;
And soon we heard a deep melodious strain.
The Angel told us, how that night was born
In Bethlehem a Saviour and a King -
A King to raise our nation and adorn -
A Saviour unto all salvation bring;
Whereon an Angel blew a silver horn,
And all the heavenly choir began to sing.
"Glory to God" they sang "On earth be peace:
Towards men of love, salvation and release."
IV They describe their journey and their welcome at the Crib
There was with the Angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying: -
Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men of good will
- Office of the Nativity.
Wide thro' the starry orb their chorus roll'd
Resounding from the sky the valley o'er;
