Sometimes this is done three times.Wooden ploughs were used long ago but they are never used now. The spades were made in the local forge by the blacksmith. The lower part was made of a sally rod let grow very thickly.Long ago all the people of the village came to one farm on one day, to another on another day and so on. A crowd working together like this was called a "meitheal" but this is not done so much now.(continues on next page)
