    The spray is made by mixing 7 lbs. of Sulphate of Copper with 40 gallons of water. Potatoes are ready for use from the beginning of July. In October they are dug up then put into a pit and covered with soil to preserve them during the Winter.
    There are a great many varieties of potatoes: - Aran Banners, Kerry Pinks, King Edwards, Champions and Queens are the most common in this country. Aran Banners are a large type of potato. Kerry Pinks are smaller and are of a reddish colour.
