    water-stealing thieves could not steal any more of it.
    Long ago large numbers of people visited this well, walked around it a good many times and prayed while doing so. When those pilgrims had finished the rounds of praying some would leave copper coins and others pins or pieces of cloth on the crevices of the little tower to remunerate in some little way for the robbery. Tradition says that St. Kevin did not get all the copper coins that were intended for him.
