Dún an fear an doras agus chuaidh sé go bhfuighfeadh sé maidhe a bhí caithte ar thaobh an bhalla díreach faoi'n bpoll a bhí i díon an tighe. Nuair a crom sé ar an maide léim an sionnach ar a dhruim agus annsin amach ar anbpoll a bhí ar bhárr an tighe agus b'éigin do'n bhfear a bheith ag déanamh bróin faoí na caoraibh.

  2. The rabbit is one of our prettiest wild animals and is often petted, but is very timid and a prey to the fox which keeps its numbers from increasing rapidly. It is destructive to young plants such as cabbage, peas, and turnips ets. When taking unawares it becomes so frightened that it lies down, pretends it is dead, deceives the hunter and his dogs. Nature made it entirely defenceless except that it can borrow and make a safe retreat for it self in the ground and never wanders very far
