(continued from previous page)chamber next to the room where the twelve daughters lay in their beds. there he was to sit and watch where they went to dance, and in order nothing might pass without him hearing it. The door of he chamber was left open. He soon fell asleep, and when he awoke in the morning he found that all the daughters were dancing. Their shoes were worn, and full of holes. The same thing happened the second and third night. The king ordered his head to be cut off.
