- Long ago shops were not very plentiful. Money was not plentiful and the people were not able to buy anything. Some people used to buy things and swap them for eggs. Some more people used to buy things and sell them at the chapel gate on Sunday to other people. Some farmers used to give a piece of land to a labourer. Then the labourer would have to help him at the harvest and at other times of the year and he would have no time to earn his wages. Some people living in the mountain used to make brushes of heather and sell them to other people.
