- The people around here used to make a lot of candles. The way they made them was to get a stool with holes in it to put the moulds in. Then they put a wick in the mould and put it in a hole in the stool. Then they got tallow and melted it and poured it on the mould. They then left it to harden. The people used to make creels to carry turf in, and they made baskets to carry potatoes in. The people used to make gates and some of them do yet.
