    A mermaid is half a woman and half a fish. She has long hair. A mermaid lives in the sea. She tries to coax boats on to rocks by singing to the sailors.
    People say that a mermaid came into Fahan, and when anyone went to look at her, she jumped into the sea.
    A man once got close to a mermaid and managed to hull her tail off, and he saw that she had two feet.
    Mermaids follow ships. In olden times people cut out the head of a mermaid on ships so that the mermaids would'nt touch her.
