They had a certain time of the year which was called Shrove which was fron the first of January to the first Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. They had certain days of the week also for marriage

Saturday no good atall
There used be a match maker in every village. They would have to go to Ballina three Mondays to settle the match. They would come to the chapel in the evening to be married.
