- During the penal days a bishop of the diocese was captured by the enemy and imprisoned in Pallas. He made various attempts to escape. After a few days he found a secret door which was concealed in the floor of the prison. He explored it and discovered that it lead to an underground passage. He continued along his way until he reached Kilmurry which was a distance of about two miles. Here he went into hiding by digging himself a hut under a hill and by surrounding it with a mound or wall of defence. He was supported by a neighbouring man who supplied him with food daily. As to how long he remained in hiding the old people cannot tell.
