    beautiful maiden came out and wash clothes in a drain which flowed into the lake. After rinsing them several times she hung them on the reeds and disappeared into the water again.
    There were five cats living in a little hut in Newtown. They had some grudge against a black haired man, living in Ballinakill. One night this man walked down the road and he was confronted by the five cats who tore his eyes out and left him behind. He was buried in Ballencurry.
