- There are many fairy forts in this district. There is one in Townahoosy which is situated about two miles from the village of Killargue. There are two more in Mullaghduff in Thomas Gilmartin's land. The three of them are in view of one another.They are circular in shape and there is a fence of earth around them. There is a hollow in the centre of each one of them, but nobody has ever been seen in them. There are no stories attached to any one of these forts.Many people say that the Danes were the only people who ever made forts. It is said that fairies were supposed to live in them about fifty years ago. Many lights have been seen in these forts.The owners of the land in which these forts are built have never interfered with them, because they would be taken away during the night.There is also another fort at the back of our own house. It is surrounded by a fence of trees and earth. One night there was a man named Michael Mc Keon passing by it, and he heard a great noise, but could not see any body.When he had listened for some time, he understood that it was somebody who was cutting bushes.
