    The swording comrades laid them to rest,
    With many a wound on face and breast.
    Fat plainer than spoken words attest,
    Their undying love for Erin.

    Though these soldiers of Rein lie cold and low,
    We shed no tears though we loved them so,
    'Tis a glorious fight with face to the foe,
    And sword in hand for Erin.

    And Leitrim is proud of her fearless sons,
    Who stood like heroes facing the guns.
    Not yielding an inch to an English hun,
    Of the sacred soil of Erin.
