When a person is going to a fair he puts a mark on his cattle so that he will know them. This mark is usually put on with a raddle. - There is a fair held in Ballinafad four times per year and at this fair the farmers have to pay "toll" to a man who is waiting outside the town. They have to pay one shilling on pigs and sheep and one and sixpence on cattle. Farmers pay luck-money on every beast that is bought from them.
