    age when the penal laws were in full power in Ireland a priest named Father Coen read Mass there for thousands of christians.
    Not far from this district there is a stream which is known as the "cleansing stream." Some of the old people say that soldiers who were wounded in battle came and washed their wounds in it's clear waters.
    In this district there is a road called "Owenie's road." This road is so called because an old man named Owen Whyte lived there about a hundred years ago.
    Cloonamonagh is another small townsland not far from this. This village derived it's name from a monastery which was there about a hundred years ago. Cloonamonagh means the "meadow of the Monks."
