    with a churn dash. The length it takes to churn depends on the amount of milk. When churning the churn dash moves up and down and sometimes gives a rolling motion.
    When the butter is made it gathers on top of the buttermilk and begins to appear on the churn dash.
    In cold weather boiling water is poured in during the process to bring on the butter.
    When the butter is made it is taken out and salted.
    There are many old sayings and old stories about churning.
    It was said some years ago two men who lived in this district were going to a races over at Coolaney. They had their dinner with them and on the way they went in to a house for butter for their bread. When they entered the house the woman was churning
