fairy man. "I was changed into a rabbit by a wicked witch" he said. "A wise fairy told me I would be changed back again on New Year's Eve if someone was kind to me." He thanked the old woman for her kindness to him and said she would have a New Year's present in the morning. He then vanished. Next morning when the old woman got up a lovely cat sat by the fire and when it got up from where it had sat there was a half-crown where it had sat. Every morning the old woman got a half-crown.
