- This is some of the folklore about the care of the feet that I got from the old people of my district.
The young people never used to wear shoes in the summer or up until the middle of November they never put on shoes.
There is one woman in my district who never puts on shoes in the summer and her name is Kate Hunt. Long ago all the old women went barefooted in the summer, but then when the winter came they bought clogs which were very cheap.
They never bought shoes because there were no shoes to be got. Very few had shoes on them in the summer. In the summer time the priest used to wear what are called sandals, which were soles and two straps keeping them tied to his feet.
