    for kittens in a farmyard nearby. The farmer sent a workman named Barney Davey to get the kittens.
    Barney nearly killed himself running after the cats. When he caught them at last he brought them to the landlord he expected a good tip. But the landlord didn't even thank him.
    Barney was very vexed and said "may the lord above perish the lord below."
    In olden times the tithes were collected in Boyle, Co. Roscommon. If the people hadn't the money that day they would get a days grace. Then if they didn't pay they would have to forfeit some of their cattle.
