I have often heard the following story concerning Carrantemple. One night a man who lives in this parish named Denis Farrel was coming home from rambling and ha was all alone. He was passing by a place where fairies were supposed to be.
Two men came out on the road and asked him to carry a coffin t Carrantample. Without waiting for an answer the put a coffin on his back and disappeared. The coffin(continues on next page)
