  1. There are two graveyards in my parish one in Gurteen and the other in Mount Irwin. They are still in use. In the two graveyards there are two church ruins. The graveyard in Mount Irwin is fairly level and it has trees growing in it.
    The one in Gurteen is sloping, and it also has trees in it. Protestant people and unbaptised children are always buried in Gurteen graveyard because the Protestant church is in the centre of the graveyard.
    Some people said that when Cromwell was in Ireland, he was passing the graveyard at Mount Irwin. He went in fier, fired a shot and knocked a piece out of the Church
