    houses, cows were tied in the end of the house. fowl were on the loft. pigs under the dresser and calves tied under the table opposite the dresser. If there was a room hay or corn was kept there too. The floors were of clay. Half doors were very common till within the last 10 or 12 years.
    Rushlights made of reeds or rushes dipped in tallow were used. Turf and sticks or brosna are still the common fuel for fire.
