   It was then the Soup kitchens came into vogue, and to which the Soupers took their ticket. The runners of these kitchens were principally women. They collected food - mostly yellow meal, and they distributed it to those who conformed, by attending the Bible Classes, which were established in every locality, and which were conducted by Bible Readers. The conformists also had to attend Protestant worship. There were conformists in this locality, and they were ever after ridiculed by those who did not conform.
