    Weather Lore.
    Signs of Rain.
When the church bells can be heard plainly,
When frogs become a black colour,
When there is a ring of light around the moon,
When the sun sets in a dark cloud,
When the soot falls down the chimney.
When there are two rainbows in the sky.
    When the swallows fly low.
When the cat sits with its back to the fire.
    When the dog eats grass.
When the sky is full of dark clouds.
When the mountains are coloured dark blue.
The South West winds brings most rain to our district.
    An old saying is :-
A rainbow at night is the shepherd's delight.A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning.
    Signs of Storm.
    When the sea-gulls fly around.
