  1. About ten years ago a great wind storm occured in the county of Monaghan. It occured in the month of January 1928. All over the county many trees were blown down, and roofs were blown off the houses. In Monaghan a little girl named Mills was killed when a tree fell on her while going to school.
About thirty years ago a great snowstorm occured in this district. Everyplace was covered with snow. At Glaslough a priest had to go out on a sick call, he went by pony and trap. The snow was so thick, and frozen that he went straight across the country over the hedges, fields and rivers till he reached the house he had to visit.
