    20. Our district of Co. Monaghan planted about the year 1615. Mostly Scotch - Jacksons, Montgomerys, Allisters. The government was unable to pay her soldiers - compensated by getting grants of land. Castles - Rossmore 2,000 acres - employed soldiers when the war was over.
