- Flummery or Flemming (used about 50 years ago)Flummery was made by crushing oats very finely. About three or four quarts of the crushed oats were put into a pan and the pan was filled with lukewarm water. It was then stirred. The water was removed every day for three or four days and fresh water added.A soft white mass was left. Above a fire of this mass was put into a pot.
Twice the quantity of water was added and it was boiled until it jellied. It was served with sugar and milk.- Informant
