    to Spain. The "firkins" of golden guineas ceased to arrive and Annagh was not a paying concern.
    The Son. It seems that Murphy had one son - a worthless spendthrift. About the year 1818, having wasted all his substance living riotously, he got word at Annaghs one evening that she was to be arrested for debt. He ordered horses and chaise around to the hall-door and took his departure like a lord. He never again returned to Annaghs - finally dying in the Marshall's prison in Dublin. Annaghs then passed into Chancery.

    Annaghs, when murphy first came was just like Shanbogh - under tenants. These in the succeeding years were all gradually cleared out and the ditched "filled in". The marks of several of these ditches can
