    In the side for the bird to go in. When she comes out she stops the hole, so that the eggs could not get cold. She usually lays from six to twelve eggs, which are spotted.
    The crow, hawk and magpie build in trees with sprigs, grass and wool. The crow lays three or four blue eggs. The hawk and magpie lay four or five spotted eggs.
    The owl builds her nest in the ruins of old houses on which ivy grows or in an ivy tree.
    The swallows come back about the first week of May and leave about the end of October.
    They build their nests of mud and hair at the eaves of houses and in sheds and out-houses. Every year they come back to the same nests if the nest are not disturbed. We like to see them coming because we know the summer is near.
    The philippines come about December and remain while the frosty and hard weather remains. These birds are black
