- Mr. James Murphy was born in Coolmeen about two miles south of the village of Ballyhale.
He was a great runner, and wieght thrower. He won numerous prizes for running, a cruet set with silver stand, clock's, cake dishes, and lots of other valuable prizes. He use to run the mile race and the hundred yards, and often five miles which he always won.
He always won lots of prizes for weight throwing. He threw the fifty six lbs weight and lots of others. He was great walker, and could walk any length.
He went out to America when he was young, and he lived up to be a good age.- Collector
