- One of the best known hurlers in this district long ago was Mr. Richard Butler. In his young days he won numerous prizes for dancing, hurling and running. One of the things he loved best was walking, and it is said that he could walk ten miles without stopping. He won five medals for hurling, and as many more for dancing.
He is now eighty two years old, and still can walk five miles every Sunday to Mass.- Collector
