    In nineteen fourteen
    As fine a roan heifer
    As ever you'd seen
    Was born in a stable
    On a fine bed of straw
    And we called her "Young Welly"
    Said Tommy Mc Grath.
    Composed by Mr Matty Dunne in 1937, during the 'free beef" vouchers.

    Here in Kilkenny, we've run off our feet
    Pullin' & crowsin' & loadin the beet.
    Our hands are all blistered, our backs are nigh broke
    And the devil a minute we get for a smoke.
    Oh! tis funny to hear all the things that they say
