- About twenty years ago there was an extra heavy snowstorm. A great number of sheep and cattle were lost. Many more died from hunger. It was a terrible time on birds. Hundreds died from hunger and cold. It was very hard on country people to come to town for provisions. In several cases people had to come on horseback as the could not bring cars.
