He then gave the reins to the shopkeeper asking him to hold it for a minute until he would go out into the yard. Very carefully the barman held the reins, but as time went by became anxious about the return of the man. At last he jumped over the counter and looked out in the street and saw a boy holding the winkers. The shopkeeper saw how he had been tricked but could do nothing about it.
