    house, one was called the "back avenue" and the other the front avenue": the dead coach used to go down the front avenue and up the back one, passing by the house. The horse-men used to go to the door and knock and when the people would come to answer the call there was no one to be seen and still the horse's hooves were heard proceeding around the yard.
