    Long ago in my district football and hurling games were held in a field belonging to James Byrne's at present. Pieces of rods stuck down in the ground were the goals.
    In picking a team the captain would tell all footballers to arrive at such a place on a certain day and time most generally after Mass. Fifteen kicked on each side and
