  1. An Old Song (continued)

    I dream of thee, old Drimoleague, and High Street there my home

    (continued from previous page)
    Oh! God be with ye Meeny’s groves
    Where often I have been
    And rambled through the wild wood there
    To pluck the holly green
    And to sweet Castledonovan
    my thoughts do fondly stray
    Where I and my young comrade boys
    Spent many a Christmas Day.
    From my fathers home in High Street
    Owen’s mountain’s can be seen,
    Where the lovely Ilen rises, which,
    Flows in to Skibbereen.
    There grows the heather, green and wild,
    O'er many a “poteen” still;
    Lying hidden in the bosom,
    Of Owen’s lofty hill.
