My Father told me this story.
There was a boy who spent a few months in America and while he was having conversation with his mother after returning, the cat happened to come into the room and he says "O mother! what long tail 'buger[?]' is that The mother said, "Wisha Tady" a laoi" and you don't know the cat."
So when anyone gets too grand for his neighbors, or too proud; it is said "He is too proud and doesn't know the cat."
