  1. In the Parish of Kilmeen in the townland of Ballinvaird on Mr. John O'Mahony's land there is an old castle. It has been in ruins for many years. It was built about two hundred years. It is about eighty feet in height. There is a big winding stairway with seventy two steps leading to the top of it. There are about seventeen windows and one big door in it. It was attacked by the Cromwellian men. There is no roof on it.
