pushes up the leg and so the hip plunges into its place. The patient must be held on a chair very steadily by two or more strong people.
About ten years ago there lived at [?] a bonesetter by the name of Michael Burns. He was especially clever at setting the bones of animals; he also set the bones of human beings when required.
One Sunday evening in the Summer time my father had a heifer which put out her shoulder. Michael Burns was sent for and when he arrived he got several men to hold the heifer in a steady position, Michael Burns then stood away from the animal about thirty yards. Then he rushed towards the animal and with his head he put the shoulder of the heifer into its right position. This man was small in size with a short neck and powerful looking shoulders.
