  1. It is believed locally that Cromwell once visited Mallow and stayed a night at O Learys 79 Main St. Cromwell was also responsible for the knocking down of Mallow Castle.
    Another story is told about three soldiers who were walking on the banks of the Blackwater. Those soldiers were drunk and missed their footing and fell into the water and were drowned. An iron bar now marks the spot.
